Job Summary:
The VA Medical Center, Boise, ID in association with the University of
Washington is recruiting for a full time Board Certified, Infectious
Disease Physician with strong research commitment to investigations of
pathogenic mechanisms of Gram positive infections.

Relocation expenses are authorized for this position; those who meet required criteria may be authorized the Guaranteed Home Buyout Program (GHBO). Relocation/Recruitment Incentives may be authorized.

Boise is located in the southwest corner of Idaho, midway between the cities of Salt Lake City, Portland, and Seattle. It is an ideal western community of 185,000 people (500,000 in the metropolitan area) offering an easy lifestyle and a wealth of outdoors and nature activities just outside your front door. The weather offers four distinct seasons, but extremes are blunted by the proximity of mountains both NE and SW of the area. Excellent housing and schools are found here, and the city hosts a string of parks along a 35-mile long paved Greenbelt along the Boise River, giving rise to its nickname, The City of Trees. As the capital of Idaho and the state’s largest city, Boise also offers a strong and thriving economy supported by government, high-tech industries, higher education, agriculture and outdoor recreation.

Major Duties:
The Boise, Idaho VA Medical Center, in association with the University of Washington, is recruiting for a full-time Board Certified Infectious Disease physician (MD or MD-equivalent) with strong research commitment to investigations of pathogenic mechanisms of Gram positive infections. The Boise VAMC is a Dean’s Committee Hospital affiliated with the University of Washington, as well as Boise State University, the University of Idaho and Idaho State University, and has an excellent residency training program in Primary Care Internal Medicine, Psychiatry and Family Practice. The incumbent will be appointed to the full-time faculty at the University of Washington at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the physician/scientist pathway. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Qualifications:
Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen.
Board Certified in Infectious Disease.
License: Must have and maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Copy of license must be included with application package.
English Language Proficiency: Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

A degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Other Information:
This position will be filled on a full-time permanent basis. Selectee will be eligible for health and life insurance, annual (vacation) and sick leave and will be covered under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).
