The American Board of Bariatric Medicine (ABBM) is an independent medical specialty board responsible for certifying  ABBM Logo physicians in the field of bariatric medicine. It is is the medical specialty involved in treating obesity and its related comorbidites, for its purposes to provide assurance to the public and to other medical providers that a candidate physician has successfully completed a minimum base of accredited bariatric educational programs. Physicians who complete the ABBM certification process in bariatric medicine are designated Diplomates of the American Board of Bariatric Medicine.
