As stated also in this guidance, the following document provides background information and establishes procedures for Guidance for Surveillance, Prevention, and Control of Mosquito-borne Disease state and local agencies in preparing for and responding to the presence of mosquito-borne viruses and the illnesses they cause.

This guideline contain materials for the detection of mosquito-borne infections in humans or animals such recommended surveillance, prevention, and response procedures and describes state and local roles in responding to mosquito-borne disease. You also will find detailed informations on basic mosquito biology and habitat, surveillance techniques, guidelines for specimen collection for birds, horses, and humans, and mosquito control procedures.
