Journal of The Umbilical Cord Blood This is a journal of obstetric and gynaecology which design an observational study of umbilical cord artery and vein blood gas after delivery as “a measure of the fetal response to labour” as Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ Study Group on Intrapartum Fetal Surveillance’s recommendation to measure the acid-base status of the umbilical artery and vein cord blood after delivery.

The researchers aim to address the practical problems of routine umbilical cord blood sampling, determine the ranges for pH, pCO2 and Base Deficit, and to examine the relationships of these parameters between cord vessels. It discussed important aspects of cord blood gas analysis, arterial fetal acidosis, cases with similar arterial but different venous values, the duration of metabolic acidosis, and etc.
