Southern Illinois University is seeking applications and nominations to fill a faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor or above in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected physician whose established practice is vital to the residents of central and southern Illinois, serving a growing practice base of up to 1 million area residents.

The position is ideal for someone who wants a busy clinical practice and loves to teach. Two major 500- and 700-bed medical centers, located in Springfield, are clinical teaching sites for SIU. Both are well-staffed, well-equipped and offer gynecologic oncology services.

SIU SOM is a leader in providing medical education and is internationally recognized for its innovative teaching and testing techniques and for its dedication to educating physicians to meet the healthcare needs of the region it serves. Nearly half of the 1,919 physicians who have earned SIU medical degrees since 1975 are now in primary care specialties. SIU’s Obstetric and Gynecology residency program has 12 full time resident physicians.

Required qualifications:
Graduate of accredited medical school program; board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Gynecologic Oncology; and licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the state of Illinois. A demonstrated interest in both medical student and resident education and research is required. Aptitude in complicated surgery and in multimodality therapy of gynecologic cancers is necessary for appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above.
