Cushing’s Syndrome (hypercortisolism) is hormonal disorder caused by prolonged exposure of the body’s tissues to high levels of the hormone cortisol which can be from both serum ACTH low (iatrogenic, adrenal neoplasm) and serum ACTH high (pituitary neoplasm, ectopic ACTH).
